ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 5, 2013—Federal News Radio interviewed Christopher Flynn, the President and CEO of the PenFed Foundation, about the new Defenders Lodge in Palo Alto, Calif. In 2011, almost 11,000 patients were forced to find temporary housing while receiving care in Palo Alto.

The Defenders Lodge solves that by providing free, safe rooms to veterans so that they can focus on their healthcare.

In the interview, Flynn talks about the process of building the Lee & Penny Anderson Defenders Lodge, the vast scope of services being provided to veterans, and the overall mission of the PenFed Foundation.

The PenFed Foundation also provides payday assistance loans with the Asset Recovery Kit, including immediate help and financial counseling, and the Military Heroes Fund, which provides wounded servicemembers with services that the Defense Department cannot offer due to budgetary and regulatory restrictions.

You can read more about the PenFed Foundation on their website, and hear the interview at Federal News Radio.
